The American Express Blue Business Cash⢠Card offers outstanding rewards and financing features that make it â in our opinion â one of the best cash back cards for small business owners.
Cardholders earn 2% cash back with no annual fee, along with 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 12 months (13.24-19.24% variable thereafter) and other business-friendly benefits like Expanded Buying Power. Thatâs an offer no other top business card on the market can match, but does that mean the Blue Business Cash Card is the best credit card for your business?
The Blue Business Cash Card at a glance
The Blue Business Cash Card steps up the game by offering 2 percent cash back on up to $50,000 in purchases per calendar yearâwithout charging an annual fee. Thatâs a better rate than youâd get with competing no-annual-fee cards like the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card and the Capital One Spark Cash Select for Business, both of which only offer 1.5 percent cash back. The Capital One Spark Cash for Business offers an unlimited 2 percent cash back, but charges a $95 annual fee (waived the first year). Unless you regularly make more than $50,000 in business purchases annually, the Blue Business Cash is a better choice for your bottom line.
Plus, your Blue Business Cash rewards are automatically applied to your account as a statement credit. If youâve ever had to remind yourself to log in to your credit card account and redeem your rewards, youâll appreciate this feature. Just use your card on everyday business purchases and the rewards will automatically appear as a statement credit on your account.

Comparing other top business cash back cards
The new Blue Business Cash is the only business credit card that offers 2% cash back without an annual fee â and itâs difficult to match the earning power of a 2% cash back card, especially if you run a business with a lot of expenses and overhead costs.
Although other business credit cards offer more than 2% cash back on certain types of spending, you have to spend a lot of money in those categories to match the cash back earning power you can get from the Blue Business Cash. If you put $50,000 annually on your Blue Business Cash, for example, youâd earn $1,000 cash back. That same $50,000 on the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card could theoretically earn you as much as $1,750, but thatâs only if you spent $25,000 at office supply stores and on internet, cable and phone services (which earn 5% cash back for up to $25,000 annually) and another $25,000 on gas stations and restaurants (which earn 2% cash back for up to $25,000 annually). For all other purchases, youâre only getting 1% cash back with the Ink Business Cash card.
Deciding which top business credit card is right for you comes down to running the numbers â and as a small business owner, you should be good at that! Take a look at our list of top business cash back cards with no annual fee and see which one most closely matches your business spending. In many cases, youâll probably earn the most rewards from the Blue Business Cash.

Other perks with the Blue Business Cash Card
The Blue Business Cash comes with multiple solutions to help freelancers and small business owners manage their cash flow. Cardholders get a 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 12 months (13.24-19.24% variable thereafter), giving them the option to invest in a business, carry a balance on the card and pay it off before the variable interest rate kicks in.
Cardholders also get access to the cardâs Expanded Buying Power feature, which allows you to spend over your credit limit without penalty and earn rewards on that spending. In other words: If thereâs a large purchase that will help you grow your business but will take you over your credit limit, donât worry. The Blue Business Cash Card has you covered.
After six months of card ownership, you might become eligible for the Working Capital Terms program. Once enrolled, American Express will pay your vendors up front (at your request) and youâll pay Amex back in 30, 60 or 90 days. This allows you to keep the bills paid even when you donât have a lot of cash at hand â assuming, of course, that youâll get the cash in time to repay Amex. There are a lot of ways that small businesses can use debt and cash flow management to their advantage, but make sure you donât get your business into more debt than it can realistically pay off.
Final thoughts
If youâre looking for a no annual fee business credit card with high cash back rewards, the American Express Blue Business Cash Card is an excellent option. In fact, itâs arguably the best business cash back card out there â youâre unlikely to earn more with a competing business cash back card unless you have a high level of spending in a specific category such as travel or office supplies. The extra perks, such as automatic reward statement credits and Expanded Buying Power, only solidify this cardâs appeal.
